If you run creator content as paid ads from your brand page, you are paying for UGC and getting a generic dark post. The creator's face and voice are there. Their credibility with their own audience is not.
Trybe is built to fix that. Run correctly, the ad delivers as a Meta Partnership Ad from the creator's own Instagram handle: their name, their profile picture, their followers. People see content from someone they chose to follow, not an ad from a brand they have never heard of.
Most brands on Trybe are not set up to get that benefit. This playbook covers the full operating system, from roster to revenue: the commission model, roster building, sample screening, submission review, campaign structure, the 48-hour performance check, and scaling.
Trybe is a creator content platform that runs your ads from the creator's handle, not your brand page. Creators earn a share of the sales their content drives, tracked by Trybe's server-side attribution.
Creators join your program and film content.
They upload it straight to Trybe. It is not posted publicly on TikTok or Instagram first.
You review the submission library and approve what meets your standards.
You push approved videos to Meta through Trybe.
The ad delivers as a Partnership Ad from the creator's Instagram account.
Each ad carries a unique submission ID in its destination URL. A sale through that URL fires attribution, and the creator gets paid.
No submission ID in the URL means no attribution. The creator earns nothing, even if the content sells.
There are five ways brands break this chain without any error message. We flag each one as it comes up below, then list all five in the checklist at the end.
Pay creators on net DTC revenue, not on ad spend. These are two completely different programs.
On an ad-spend model, you pay the creator whether or not the ad converts. Weak creative, bad targeting, or a landing page that does not close: you still pay. You are paying for spend that produced no return.
On a revenue model, the creator earns a percentage of what their content actually sells. Now they have a reason to care whether the video converts, not just whether it got approved and pushed live. (For more on structuring payouts, see our guide to affiliate commission tiers.)
Trybe's Discovery tab shows what other brands in your category are running. You can see:
How many creators each program has
Total creator earnings
Whether they offer retainers on top of revenue commission
The strongest rosters, around 2,000 to 3,000 creators and $50,000+ in total creator earnings, usually come from the most competitive structures. Check your category before you finalize terms.
Existing creators usually do not move to new terms right away. They are often given a transition period. Be transparent about the change, because creators who feel surprised by new terms stop submitting.
You get 30 invite credits a day. Use every one, and treat activation as the bigger job.
Creators can discover your program through Trybe's Discover Brands tab and request to join. Those requests land in your Inbox. A creator who sought you out is usually a good signal for intent and fit.
The brands with hundreds of creators on their roster treat the 30 daily invites as a daily task, not an occasional one. Pick creators who match your product and send all 30.
Many teams go beyond Trybe's native discovery. They find creators on TikTok Shop or through their own research, reach out directly, and send interested creators a Trybe invite link. Creators who join through the link appear in your program list, ready for you to accept.
Across programs, most earnings come from a small fraction of creators while the rest of the roster sits inactive. Getting existing creators to submit and convert is worth more than adding names. Our guide on reactivating dormant creators covers how.
Every sample costs product and shipping, so approval is a rationing decision. Run a pre-flight check before anyone on your roster gets product.
Any one of these disqualifies a creator, no matter how good they look otherwise.
Professional account. They need an Instagram or Facebook Business or Creator account. A personal account cannot carry a Partnership Ad and will not appear in the flow at all.
Partnership Ad permission. They must grant your brand Partnership Ad permission inside Trybe. Without it, Trybe still runs the creative, but from your brand page. The creator still earns, and you lose the entire Partnership Ad benefit. This is silent failure #1, so check it at the application stage, not after the sample ships.
Country and age. Creators must be 18 or older and in a country where Trybe can process payouts. Creators who cannot be paid will not stay engaged, and you cannot ship samples to markets outside your program.
| Signal | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Performance prior | Content with real engagement or sales history. The strongest signal. |
| Platform readiness | Posts consistently, professional account, permission already granted |
| ICP fit | Their audience resembles your buyer |
| Content signal | Already makes the format you need: 9:16 vertical, talking-head or POV, good audio and lighting, regular cadence |
Save multi-packs and premium products for high scorers or creators with a prior approved submission. New creators with no track record get the entry product. That is not punitive. It protects your sample budget for the creators most likely to turn it into content. See our sample tracking system guide for the logistics.
Check the script first and the video second. A script violation takes ten seconds to catch in text and minutes to catch by watching.
Trybe's submission viewer shows the script next to the video. Search it for the phrases your brief says to avoid, such as:
Checkout mechanics that do not exist in your program
Calls to action for a different platform
Creators who film for TikTok Shop and then upload to Trybe sometimes forget to strip out TikTok-specific language. If the phrase is baked in and cutting it would break the edit, reject the video. Do not request a revision that cannot work.
Creators sometimes shoot for one SKU and submit under another. The script viewer shows which product was tagged. Make sure it matches the product on screen before you approve.
You are not watching for entertainment. You are looking for anything that gets the ad flagged or rejected on Meta:
Competing brand products in frame
Content that works for organic but not for paid distribution
Production quality below your standard
AI can help with script review, but it cannot reliably read context. Emphatic language can read as negative in text and be clearly positive on video, and some visual elements only make sense when you watch.
Some claim categories are rejections, not revisions, no matter how good the video is:
The product framed as a substitute for medication
A named diagnosis or condition
A specific outcome claim with a timeline and no substantiation
An approved health claim in your ad library is a compliance liability even if it never gets spend. For building a repeatable review process, see our content approval workflow guide.
Each Trybe campaign holds a maximum of 50 ad videos, and an ad cannot be removed once it is pushed. That one constraint should shape your entire campaign architecture.
A long-running campaign permanently fills up with dead creative you can never clear. Instead, treat each campaign as a time-bounded batch: a specific set of creatives pushed in a specific window. When it fills, open a new one. Pause old campaigns. Do not delete them.
Each of these lets the ad keep running and spending while the creator's earnings quietly drop to zero.
Never delete a campaign. The spend record Trybe uses to pay creators lives in the campaign structure. Delete a closed campaign during a dashboard cleanup, and a week later a creator asks why their earnings vanished. (Silent failure #2)
Never delete an individual ad. Deactivate underperformers instead.
Never rename an ad. Trybe's naming convention is how it matches spend back to submissions. Break the string and you break attribution. (Silent failure #3)
Never touch the destination URL. The trybe parameter with the submission ID must stay. Without it, the ad still delivers and still shows in Meta reporting, but Trybe sees nothing. (Silent failure #4)
Always launch through Trybe's push to Meta. Never hand-upload creative into Ads Manager. A manually uploaded asset is invisible to Trybe's attribution and earns nothing traceable. (Silent failure #5)
If attribution is new territory for your team, our primer on what attribution modeling is is a good starting point.
Check every live campaign in Meta Ads Manager every 48 hours, and judge each ad on two metrics: hook rate and landing page views. Daily is too early for meaningful data. Weekly is too slow to catch underperformers before they burn budget.
| Metric | Target | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Hook rate (viewers past the first 3 seconds) | 40% or higher | Below this, the ad loses people before they see the offer |
| Landing page views | 100 before you decide | A cleaner read on purchase intent than clicks, which count people who tap and close before the page loads |
Once an ad reaches 100 landing page views, you have enough data to keep it live or deactivate it.
Give new campaigns time, especially if your DTC tracking was just updated or your attribution setup is still settling. Do not deactivate anything on day one.
Shared spend gets you test data. Dedicated spend is how the channel actually scales.
When a campaign launches, budget is shared across all of its videos, up to 50 creatives splitting one pool. That is your testing phase: you learn which creatives hook, which drive landing page views, and which convert.
Once you find winners with hook rates above 40% and real conversion data, move them into a dedicated campaign structure where each top performer gets its own spend. Shared spend gives you signal. Dedicated spend gives you volume.
A creator who has already converted with your product is a much lower-risk bet than a new creator with no track record. Send them new briefs and new angles to try.
Trybe's messaging lets you create creator groups and send briefs in batches. It is more manual than outreach tools that filter and send automatically, but it works. Need a brief template? See our creative advertising brief guide.
Trybe's creative performance analytics show:
Which creators are trending up in earnings
Which videos have the strongest late-stage CTRs
Which SKUs drive the most conversions
Use that to decide where your samples, briefs, and scaling budget go. The creators at the top of your earnings leaderboard are building a real business partnership with your brand. Treat them that way, and read how to turn top creators into long-term partners.
Set commission on net DTC revenue, benchmarked against your category in the Discovery tab.
Build your roster through inbound requests and all 30 daily invite credits.
Screen hard before any sample ships: professional account, Partnership Ad permission, country and age.
Review submissions script first, video second.
Build campaigns in cohorts of up to 50 ads, and never touch ad names or destination URLs.
Check performance every 48 hours on hook rate and landing page views.
Scale top performers with dedicated spend and keep briefing their creators.
| # | What happens | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Creator has not granted Partnership Ad permission | Ad runs from your brand page, not their handle |
| 2 | A campaign gets deleted | Spend record is erased and creator earnings drop to zero |
| 3 | An ad gets renamed | Spend no longer matches the submission |
| 4 | The trybe parameter is removed from the URL | Ad spends, Trybe sees nothing |
| 5 | Creative is hand-uploaded to Ads Manager | Invisible to Trybe's attribution |
One more safeguard: do not let a single person hold every gate in the program. High-stakes decisions like deleting, renaming, or approving claims need a second sign-off.
It is a Meta ad that runs from the creator's own Instagram handle instead of your brand page. Their followers see it as content from someone they already follow.
They earn a percentage of the sales their content drives, tracked through a unique submission ID in each ad's destination URL. If that ID is missing, the creator is not credited.
Revenue. Paying on ad spend means you pay even when ads do not convert. Paying on net DTC revenue ties creator earnings to actual sales.
Up to 50, and ads cannot be removed once pushed. Run campaigns in time-bounded cohorts and open a new one when each fills.
Hook rate of 40% or higher, and at least 100 landing page views before deciding to keep or deactivate an ad. Check every 48 hours.
Trybe is a real paid media channel when it is run correctly: Partnership Ads from creator handles, revenue-based commission, and a clean attribution chain from submission ID to sale. Run this playbook consistently and the channel compounds over time.
